Usage szerkesztés

This template is designed for the lemma of all Spanish verbs. Only use this template for the verb's lemma entry (impersonal infinitive). For non-lemma forms, use es.

This template should be placed in all Spanish verb sections, immediately following the ===Verb=== section header. It provides the inflection line for the entry. The template also automatically categorizes the entry in Category:Spanish verbs and the appropriate Spanish verb subcategory (e.g. Category:Spanish verbs ending in -ar).

As with other Wiktionary inflection templates, please do not use subst:.

Basic usage szerkesztés

The verb takes exactly the same parameters as es-conj. In addition, named parameters can be used to explicitly specify the first-singular present indicative, first-singular preterite indicative and/or past participle.

In general, there are no required parameters. For regular verbs, including verbs with predictable spelling alternations, no parameters are necessary.

If you are not sure of the correct conjugation, specify |attn=1 to indicate this; someone will eventually fix the conjugation.

Examples szerkesztés

Regular verbs, including those with consonant alternations szerkesztés

1. The verb cantar (to sing) is fully regular. Use as follows:

es-verb

which produces

cantar (E/1. jelen idő canto, E/1. múlt idő canté, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév cantado)

2. The verb pagar (to pay) is regular other than having a predictable spelling change in the preterite pagué. This is handled automatically, so no parameters are needed. Use as follows:

es-verb

which produces

pagar (E/1. jelen idő pago, E/1. múlt idő pagué, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév pagado)

3. The verb concluir (to conclude) is regular other than having a predictable change in the present concluyo. This is handled automatically, so no parameters are needed. Use as follows:

es-verb

which produces

concluir (E/1. jelen idő concluyo, E/1. múlt idő concluí, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév concluido)

Verbs with vowel alternations szerkesztés

1. The verb perder (to lose) is regular other than having a vowel alternation in the present pierdo. This is not predictable, so it must be specified explicitly, using the indicator <ie> (see es-conj):

<ie>

which produces

perder (E/1. jelen idő pierdo, E/1. múlt idő perdí, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév perdido)

2. The verb avergonzar (to shame, to embarrass) is regular other than having a vowel alternation in the present avergüenzo. It also has a predictable spelling change in the preterite avergoncé. Note that in this case, the change from o to ue also necessitates a spelling change from u to ü. The indicator <ue> automatically handles this spelling change, and the default rules handle the spelling change in the preterite. Specify as follows:

<ue>

which produces

avergonzar (E/1. jelen idő avergüenzo, E/1. múlt idő avergoncé, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév avergonzado)

3. The verb regimentar (to regimentar) is regular other than having an optional vowel alternation in the present: both regimiento and regimento are found. Use <ie,+> to request both forms, as with es-conj:

<ie,+>

which produces

regimentar (E/1. jelen idő regimiento vagy regimento, E/1. múlt idő regimenté, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév regimentado)

4. The verb aislar (to isolate) is regular other than having a vowel alternation in the present aíslo. This is not predictable. Use <í>, as with es-conj:

<í>

which produces

aislar (E/1. jelen idő aíslo, E/1. múlt idő aislé, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév aislado)

5. The verb acuantiar (to set the quantity of) is mostly regular, but in the present tense both acuantío and acuantio occur. To specify this, use <í,+>, as with es-conj:

<í,+>

which produces

acuantiar (E/1. jelen idő acuantío vagy acuantio, E/1. múlt idő acuantié, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév acuantiado)

Irregular verbs szerkesztés

Irregular verbs are handled automatically, and normally do not require any parameters. See es-conj.

One case that might require explicit parameters is the obsolete irregular verb dezir (to say) (obsolete version of decir). This is not supported by es-conj and is irregular in all three forms: digo, dixe, dicho. Specify as follows:

which produces

dezir (E/1. jelen idő digo, E/1. múlt idő dixe, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév dicho)

Parameters szerkesztés

The allowed parameters are as follows:

|1=
Optional argument to specify the conjugation, in the same format as with es-conj.
|pres=, |pres2=, ...
Specify an irregular first-person singular present indicative, as an alternative to specifying the conjugation in |1=. Normally do not do this; this is only needed for very uncommon verbs that are not handled by es-conj. Use |pres2= if there is more than one possibility. Use |pres=- for defective verbs without this form. Note that predictable spelling or other alternations are handled automatically, e.g. distinguirdistingo, cogercojo, parecerparezco, concluirconcluyo.
|pres_qual=, |pres2_qual=, ...
Specify qualifier text to be placed before a given form. |pres_qual= is used in conjunction with |pres=, |pres2_qual= is used in conjunction with |pres2=, etc.
|pret=, |pret2=, ...
Specify an irregular first-person singular preterite indicative. Normally do not do this; this is only needed for very uncommon verbs that are not handled by es-conj. Use |pret2= if there is more than one possibility. Use |pret=- for defective verbs without this form. Note that predictable spelling or other alternations are handled automatically, e.g. marcarmarqué, cargarcargué, concluirconcluyo, aderezaraderecé.
|pret_qual=, |pret2_qual=, ...
Specify qualifier text to be placed before a given form. |pret_qual= is used in conjunction with |pret=, |pret2_qual= is used in conjunction with |pret2=, etc.
|part=, |part2=, ...
Specify an irregular past participle. Normally do not do this; this is only needed for very uncommon verbs that are not handled by es-conj. Use |part2= if there is more than one possibility. Use |part=- for defective verbs without this form. Note that predictable alternations are handled automatically, e.g. poseerposeído.
|part_qual=, |part2_qual=, ...
Specify qualifier text to be placed before a given form. |part_qual= is used in conjunction with |part=, |part2_qual= is used in conjunction with |part2=, etc. An example where this might be used is describir, with normal past participle descrito and an alternative past participle descripto used in Argentina and Uruguay. For this verb, use |part2=descripto along with |part2_qual=Argentina and Uruguay.
|head=, |head2=, ...
Override the headword. Useful especially to add unpredictable links in multiword expressions (an automatic linking algorithm applies in the absence of this, and links each word).
|attn=1
Signal that the correct conjugations aren't known. This will not display any inflections, and will place the page in Category:Requests for attention concerning Spanish.
|noautolinktext=1
Disable the autolinking algorithm for text outside of the verb itself, in multiword expressions.
|noautolinkverb=1
Disable the autolinking algorithm for the verb. If you use both this and |noautolinktext=1, no autolinking will happen, with the result that any links need to be specified using |head= and non-lemma forms will be linked in their entirety.

Multiword expressions szerkesztés

For multiword expressions, place angle brackets after the verb(s) needing conjugation, with any indicators inside angle brackets as needed. This is not actually necessary if there is only a single verb that is the first word of the expression, as is common. For example, for the idiom echar de menos (to miss), both of the following work and are equivalent:

es-verb
echar<> de menos

which produce

echar de menos (E/1. jelen idő echo de menos, E/1. múlt idő eché de menos, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév echado de menos)

If there are multiple conjugated verbs in the expression, place angle brackets after each, as in the expression disparar primero y preguntar después (to shoot first and ask questions later):

disparar<> primero y preguntar<> después

which produces

disparar primero y preguntar después (E/1. jelen idő disparo primero y pregunto después, E/1. múlt idő disparé primero y pregunté después, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév disparado primero y preguntado después)

Normally, each word (including the verb) is autolinked separately. You can override the linking behavior by explicitly specifying links, as in pensar dos veces (to think twice), which can be written as follows:

pensar<ie> dos veces

which produces

pensar dos veces (E/1. jelen idő pienso dos veces, E/1. múlt idő pensé dos veces, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév pensado dos veces)

In this case, the singular of veces is explicitly linked. In this case, the word dos also needs to be explicitly linked; otherwise, it would not be linked in the resulting headword and inflections. The verb does not explicitly need a link, however, because verbs and uninflected portions of the expression are autolinked separately.

Multiword subexpressions can be linked together if needed, as in the idiom cogérsela con papel de fumar (to nitpick, literally to pick it up with rolling paper):

cogérsela<> con papel de fumar

which produces

cogérsela con papel de fumar (E/1. jelen idő me la cojo con papel de fumar, E/1. múlt idő me la cogí con papel de fumar, múlt idejű melléknévi igenév la cogido con papel de fumar)

This example also shows that angle brackets should be placed after any reflexive or other clitic pronouns, which will be handled correctly.
